Anthropic and ElevenLabs are Building Physical Stores

ElevenLabs and Anthropic’s Claude, despite building their entire worlds on a screen, recently constructed in-person spaces.
In NYC’s West Village, Anthropic transformed an Air Mail newsstand into a Claude-sponsored “Zero Slop Zone.” It was a study + coffee spot that strictly prohibited screens.
Interesting branding for an AI company. Yet it drew 5000 visitors and over 10 million social media impressions.
8 months later, ElevenLabs did something similar by releasing their own voice-powered pop-up store in Soho. Visitors could buy merch and order coffee from an AI-agent barista.
Two physical spaces. Two products that couldn’t be less physical.

Neither space had anything to do with promoting the software. That could be done at a tech convention or even online.
Claude and ElevenLabs have realized where the digital sector is heading and are jumping to get on the right side of it.
When the internet started, the products themselves were big innovations. However, the online world has become so saturated that everything, whether software or AI agents, will eventually be reproducible.
Scarcity no longer lies in the product itself. Future value will come from the human experiences surrounding the product.




Likewise, there may come a day where all content, on its own, is expendable. That day might come sooner than expected for creators.
Claude literally called it a “Zero Slop Zone.” It was a direct dig at the “AI slop” that’s flooded the creator economy within the last 2 years. But AI is becoming so advanced that soon it will be impossible to differentiate quality from slop based on the content by itself.
When this future arrives, the only thing worth selling will be the audience’s impression of your content.
A coffee you line up for. A screen-free study space. A feeling you get from your favorite creator that makes you believe you’re right there with them.
The experience is what truly matters.
